Structural Integration
This is a term used to describe modalities of bodywork, such as Rolfing, which focus on mitigating postural imbalance and pain patterns through manual manipulation of connective tissues and muscle fibers. Recipients of this work can generally see results for specific issues with one 90 minute session, and lasting postural results may be achieved through a series of several progressive sessions.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage is a tradition of bodywork which utilizes compassion, energy work, soft-tissue manipulation, and passive stretching. Sessions are performed on a mat with the client dressed in comfortable, non-binding clothes. This type of massage may have profoundly relaxing and systemic effects. As with Structural Integration, Thai massage treats the body as a whole in order to relieve patterns of disfunction on a causal level. Thai sessions are best unhurried, and 90 minute or two-hour sessions are recommended.
Stretch Therapy
Developed by Kit Laughlin over the past 20 years, Posture and Flexibility is a therapeutic stretching and conditioning system which employs neuromuscular re-patterning exercises to empower clients with tools to improve function and body awareness. Appropriate for students of all levels, I have found this work to be remarkably effective for enhancing the results of structural massage and reducing the need for future treatments. P&F is an excellent supplement to any form of athletics from acrobatics and yoga to running and cycling.
Relaxation Massage
Massage for overall relaxation must not be overlooked as a viable method of unwinding the human body, mind, and spirit. Using long, rhythmic strokes, this type of massage helps clients achieve an "alpha wave" state in which free-form thought and sensory perception are heightened. This type of work can be applied safely and often for almost anyone.
Swedish Massage
The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles massaged is the same direction as the flow of blood as it returns to the heart. This technique increases oxygen in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation while promoting overall health and well being.
