We have a fixed menu offering different breakfasts, lunches and dinners each day. We always have the option for raw, vegetarian, fresh fish or chicken. Almost all of our food is local and organic.

Our meals are set prices/person. Please see our sample menu for meal examples. Also check out this photo collection of some of our food by Ksenija Savic: Anamaya Food Photography

Food preparation

Our restaurant and dining experience is unique and a core part of the Anamaya experience. Chef and his staff prepare the food in the prep kitchen and then bring all ingredients into our main lodge kitchen where guests can watch, learn, and sometimes even participate.  Chef will teach his tricks to anyone who cares to learn. We take care to prepare vegetarian dishes separate from fish or chicken dishes to respect vegetarian ideals. We also know there are always guests who can't keep out of the kitchen, and some will want to help prepare the meals or add to the mix with their own culinary creations. Add your favorite healthy recipe to the Anamaya guest cookbook. At Anamaya, we are one big happy family and our community revolves around the kitchen at its core.

An Organic Dream

We are dedicated to using organic produce whenever possible, and are constantly seeking out new sources of organic foods in Costa Rica. Some are grown locally and some are brought from other parts of Costa Rica, especially the higher altitudes where foods will grow organically that can't survive the beach climate. In addition, we're working on importing some organic dry goods and spices that are unavailable here.

Local Color and Spice

Our fish are caught in the clean waters in front of the peninsula. Our chicken is local, as are the organic eggs, supplied primarily in partnership with Rainsong Wildlife Sanctuary. We grow some of our herbs on site, as well as a few veggies. We're supporting local organic farmers, supplying them with new seeds and new ideas. Over time, we hope to be able to buy most of what we use within 20 miles of Montezuma.

Superfoods for a super life

All our meals are stocked with "superfoods" that are known to be the Olympic athletes of the vegetable world for their abundance of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, and other forms of nutrition. Broccoli, spinach, sweet potatoes, purslane, and avocados are just a few of the core ingredients that we consider vital to a healthy diet.

Vegaquarianism?

Are we vegetarian? Are we vegan? We think such labels are tired and fairly useless in the pursuit of optimum health. Veaquaian is vegetarian+seafood. The core of the diet is lots of raw food, plenty of protein, minimum processing, lots of fruit and veggies, whole grains, minimal dairy and meat, and no junk.
